The daughter of CORD Leader and former prime minister,Rosemary Odinga is one humble woman and most of Kenyan know little about her and what she does considering she doesn’t grab the headlines or neither is she seen in the public glare often.
Being the daughter of the former prime minister and a rich man’s daughter,most people expect her to be a manager in one of her father’s many lucrative businesses but to the surprise of many,that is not the case with Rosemary odinga..
Despite being educated in one of the best Universities abroad, Raila Odinga’s eldest daughter, Rosemary, has decided to venture into farming. Perticularly SNAILS farming!
Apparently, Rosemary is the only snail farmer in Kenya licensed by the Kenya Wildlife Service(KWS) and she does her farming in her 25-acre farm located in Kiserian. She started snail farming back in 2007 after visiting former Nigerian President, Olesegun Obasanjo, who is also a snail farmer.
“I started this project as a hobby in 2007. I had gone to Nigeria where I had the privilege of visiting former Nigerian President Olesegun Obasanjo, one of the biggest snail farmers there. I felt very challenged,” said Rosemary, eldest daughter of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in an interview she had with the Standard Newspaper.
When she came back home, she did intense research on the same.
Rosemary, who is a mother of two, supplies the snails to various high end hotels in town and she is smiling all the way to the bank as most of Kenyan youths complain of unemployment.
